Pieter Schelte has its firing line in the centre line of the vessel. 12 m pipe sections will be delivered to the vessel by supply boats, lifted onto the vessel by one of the pipe transfer cranes of Pieter Schelte, and fed into the pipe storage area on the main deck or into the double-joint factory.
In the main firing line, the pipe is held under tension by four 500 t tensioners. The pipe leaves the vessel over the 170 m long stinger, which is suspended in the slot between the bow sections of the vessel.
The maximum outside pipe diameter, including coating, is 68”.
In case Pieter Schelte is required for platform topsides installation or removal work, the stinger will be removed from the bow section of the vessel and stored on deck or on a cargo barge.
