Lorelay

Lorelay  is a versatile vessel optimised for the execution of medium and small diameter pipelay projects of any length. As the world's first pipelay vessel to operate on dynamic positioning, she represented a new generation of offshore pipelaying vessel; with her excellent workability she has made a mark worldwide.

Her ship-shape allows for a high cruising speed, while a large pipe storage capacity makes her less dependent on offshore supply. Operating on full DP, Lorelay  offers the safest pipelay method in congested waters where anchors could endanger the integrity of existing pipelines. Pipeline start-ups and lay-downs are executed in very quick time ensuring any disruption to other activities near platforms is minimised.

Using full DP allows Lorelay  to position precisely and safely in unlimited water depths. She has laid numerous deepwater steel pipelines and in 1996 extended the limits of S-lay installation – rewriting the record books in the process – by laying pipe to a depth of 1,645 m (5,400 ft).
