Removal of topsides, jacket, conductors & template

Conductor removal using Allseas-engineered cutting solution

Scope of work

  • Engineering, preparation, removal & disposal (EPRD) of 1,200-tonne topsides and 3,500-tonne jacket, conductors & subsea template
  • Topsides preparations (incl. underdeck scaffolding & removal of obstructions under cellar deck for access to lift points, installation of shear brackets & uplift restrainers on legs, cutting & removal of caissons, reinstatement of Allseas-engineered lift points at work deck elevation)
  • Cutting of grouted platform legs
  • Jacket preparations (incl. lift point reinforcements (leg interfaces), releasing mechanical connection of conductors with jacket, subsea cutting of jacket legs, risers & conductors, subsea cutting conductors (below seabed), cutting template anchor piles (below seabed))
  • Load-in of facilities to disposal yard (Stord, Norway)

Specials & challenges

  • Offshore preparations carried out in both “cold” and “live” oil & gas platform environments in Valhall field
  • Removal of decommissioned facilities from live field
  • Tight vertical clearances between Pioneering Spirit & topsides during removal due to field subsidence
  • Very small air gap between water level and actual field weld for lift points on jacket
  • Small horizontal clearances between TLS & platform (small platform results in lift points close to legs and caissons)
  • Pre-lift activities and welding close to the splash zone
