Final lifts complete at Valhall

Pioneering Spirit has safely completed the final heavy lifts of Aker BP’s original Valhall field, decommissioning Original Valhall Development & Hod Decommissioning Project (OVD) – removing the 9,500-tonne PCP jacket and 5,000-tonne Hod A platform.

Smart engineering made it possible, including a custom “fishing rod” to hook conductor sections 28 metres underwater using repurposed pipelay strakes. Despite rough weather, the team adapted fast – showing what flexible, efficient single-lift execution really looks like.

A proud step in a project that clears the way for Valhall’s next chapter as a key North Sea energy hub.
