Lili Braam, Field Engineer

I still love the job every single day—the busy days on board, the fantastic crew, and the freedom to perform my work while constantly seeking improvements.

After completing my Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft, I wasn’t sure where to begin my job search. Everything seemed like a boring office job to me. Then a friend invited me for a coffee at Allseas, claiming the offshore industry was anything but boring—and he was absolutely right!

First impressions and early adventures

From that first coffee, I was intrigued by the hands-on work atmosphere and the large-scale offshore installations carried out by Allseas. During my first years in the Pipeline Production Department, I learned a great deal about offshore construction, went on numerous field trips to Allseas vessels, and thoroughly enjoyed the cycling outings, drinks, and frequent events.

Finding my place offshore

After three years, I knew offshore was where I belonged, and I became a Field Engineer to work permanently offshore on pipeline and subsea structure installations. This career move was fully supported by my supervisors, which helped me shape my path exactly the way I wanted. After several years working mainly aboard Solitaire, I still love the job every single day—the busy days on board, the fantastic crew, the thrill of successful installations, and the freedom to perform my work while constantly seeking improvements. Definitely not a boring office job!
