Olaf Crebolder, Installation Engineer

Witnessing the successful execution of these projects, knowing that I played a role in their development, is a truly satisfying experience.

After completing my bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering, I sought an industry that involved working with the extremes of nature. Through a contractor, I discovered Allseas and began my career as a draughtsman in the pipelay department.

Within the first few weeks, I was captivated by the diverse fields in which Allseas operates. Their Innovations department is exploring deep-sea mining and nuclear sailing, while their core business focuses on heavy lifting and pipeline engineering.

Within a year and a half, I transitioned to installation engineering, where I began working on my latest project: the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) pipeline for Porthos, located just outside the port of Rotterdam. During this project, I contributed to the structural installations for the expansion of the P18-A platform. This new role allowed me to deepen my understanding of the technical requirements and challenges involved in offshore installation engineering.

What I appreciate most about this role is the hands-on approach to preparing for project execution. Engaging with subcontractors and stakeholders creates a dynamic environment where I can apply technical skills and problem-solving abilities. Working here has not only enhanced my technical knowledge but also improved my ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams.

The greatest aspect of this company is the opportunity to grow across different departments. This flexibility has enabled me to expand my skills and knowledge in various areas. I find it rewarding to prepare complex installation methods for large structures and then see them come to life offshore. Witnessing the successful execution of these projects, knowing that I played a role in their development, is a truly satisfying experience.
