Precision pipeline welding
At Allseas, innovation drives our offshore welding expertise. With decades of experience, we continually develop and optimise advanced welding systems and specialised techniques to deliver the best solutions in pipeline construction and installation.
Our in-house welding equipment, including the fully automated Phoenix welding and Dolphin inspection systems, consistently produce high-speed, high-quality results, setting the industry benchmark for quality, performance and efficiency.

Phoenix Automated Welding System
Phoenix is engineered to deliver exceptional weld strength and toughness, corrosion resistance, and fatigue performance. Automated seam tracking and precise parameters ensure consistent quality, achieving high production rates while reducing operational time and cost.
Since its 1993 debut as an industry first, Phoenix has been enhanced with dual and triple torch options for faster welding on large-diameter pipes. Parameters can be set and locked per position for compliance with qualified ranges. Phoenix welds carbon steel, high-strength grades, and various materials like Inconel clad steel, stainless steel, and Duplex/316. Integrated closed and open root processes enable root welding without copper backing.
Specials
- Welded more than 25,000 kilometres of offshore pipeline.
- Proven concept with high production at a low weld repair rate.
- Dual and triple torch features increase deposit and welding speeds.
- Welding parameters pre-programmed and controlled for each pass.
Automated Weld Inspection – Dolphin
Dolphin is a next-generation automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) system setting a new industry standard for weld scanning speed, accuracy and reliability. Powered by advanced VS-TFM technology, it produces high-detailed volumetric images for any weld type or pipe diameter in real-time.
Mounted on our custom welding band, Dolphin’s lightweight scanner – equipped with phased array and ToFD probes – merges ultrasonic signals for live top, side, and cross-sectional views, enabling rapid and precise flaw detection. By reducing reliance on human factors in traditional AUT, Dolphin helps clients manage production more effectively, streamlining inspection for higher efficiency and quality on pipelay projects

Specials
- Combines superior image-based technology with high scanning speed.
- Sets a new standard for weld scanning speed, temperature and accuracy.
- No limitations to weld method, bevel type, bevel angle and flaw orientation.
- Reliable detection, identification and sizing of welds flaws by means of location, orientation and height-length sizing capabilities.
- Automated calibration and verification features.
Internal Weld Inspection Tool (IWIT)
IWIT is a specialised tool for precise inspection of welds in corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) and CRA-clad pipes. Equipped with HD cameras and a laser surface profiler, it detects and measures weld parameters like misalignment, concavity and penetration with pinpoint accuracy.
Inside the pipe, IWIT uses a camera and laser sensor to capture detailed visual and dimensional data, creating a 360° stitched weld image on our FOX interface for easy verification against project standards. IWIT has since evolved since its 2010 debut with updates for stability, double-joint support, and integration with other in-house tools, reducing defects, downtime and costs on each project.

Specials
- Robust design rated up to 8 tonnes of pull force.
- Optimised for high performance in tough production environments.
- Interchangeable crawlers and rotating inspection heads for compatibility with all wide range of pipe diameters.
- Direct mounting on internal line-up clamp for double-joint welding support.
- Deployed with user-friendly interface (FOX) to provide operators with a 360° stitched image of the weld.
- Internal cleaning & calibration system ensures high system availability/uptime.

Internal Line-Up Clamp (ILUC)
The ILUC is a hydraulic tool that precisely aligns and reshapes pipe ends for optimal circumferential welding, reducing alignment time and ensuring improved roundness. Its adjustable hydraulic system is powerful enough for thick-walled pipelines and adaptable to various pipe sizes. Equipped with purging for stainless steel cladded welding, it enhances weld quality with minimal need for repairs.
In use since 2011, the ILUC has consistently delivered reliable performance, improving weld accuracy, speed and reducing defects to streamline production and minimise project downtime.
Specials
- Adjusted for all wall thicknesses in accordance with API-5.
- Proven concept with that delivers high production and low maintenance rates.
- Hydraulic pressure is substantial enough to alter the pipe end shape to optimise roundness.
- Improves accuracy, speed and quality of the line-up and welding process, and significantly reduces weld errors.
- CBS system proven to have less wear than competitors.
Pipe Roundness Inspection System for Matching (PRISM)
PRISM uses laser-sizing technology to precisely measure internal pipe-end geometry, providing real-time rotation advice for faster line-up and improved weld quality. With built-in calibration and verification, PRISM ensures absolute precision, minimising inner surface offset (HiLo) and reducing handling time. Pipe geometry data is instantly accessible for optimising production and quality control across the chain.
This portable system offers interchangeable control boxes and software for flexible use in various settings, making it adaptable to project-specific needs. Additional tools support offline analysis and further production optimisation.
Specials
- Real-time radial geometry readings for quality control and production optimisation.
- Built in calibration, verification and inspection capability for absolute precision.
- Superior line-up resulting in significantly reduced handling times.
- Additional tooling for offline analysis and production optimisation available.
- Easy-to-use and portable with interchangeable hardware and software for all projects.
